Fresh Start, Fresh Goals: The New Year represents a symbolic fresh start, making it an ideal time to set new goals and embark on learning new skills. The energy and motivation associated with the beginning of a year can provide the necessary boost to initiate and sustain the learning process. And our 3-month Boundless Life Experience in January-March is not only the perfect time to acquire a new skill but also the perfect place - as all our destinations offer a range of opportunities to not only sample but begin to master a skill that could become a lifelong passion.
In the first of a two-part Blog, we’ll be sharing with you just some of the Extracurricular Activities your children would have access to across our Boundless Life locations. We haven’t forgotten about the parents though! In part two, we’ll take a look at the learning opportunities available for grown-ups.
⛵ Sail away with me in Syros
Syros has a rich maritime history dating back centuries. During the 19th century, the island became a significant trading and commercial hub in the Aegean Sea. Today, it maintains its maritime significance. The port of Ermoupoli (and home to Boundless Life) continues to be an active commercial and passenger port, serving as a vital transportation hub for the Cyclades islands.
This all provides the perfect setting for one of our most popular Extracurricular Activities (ECAs): Sailing! Not only will our young Explorers have the beautiful blue of the Aegean Sea to ease them into this wonderful new skill, but they also have Boundless Crew member, Giannis (AKA John) at the helm to help them navigate their way from complete beginner to competent young sailor. John has sailed at the highest level and is completely at home on the water. His calm and confident approach has helped many children leave Syros with those same attributes, and a thorough theoretical and practical foundation to build upon.
Don’t worry - the sea temperature may not be quite ready for inflatable unicorn floaties, but cosy wetsuits and lifejackets will be provided!
🎨 Art in the home of the Renaissance: Tuscany
By acquiring art skills, children develop a range of valuable abilities and qualities, including creativity, cognitive development, emotional intelligence, confidence, cultural appreciation, problem-solving, resilience, and - most importantly - enjoyment.
Our Explorers in Italy have had the remarkable opportunity to embark on an incredible artistic journey in a very unique setting! Boundless Life’s expert partners of the “Arte in San Biagino Association” guide children of all ages from sketch to masterpiece. This unique course fosters creative freedom through the exploration of tempera and watercolour paints, crayons, canvas, and boundless imagination. Exclusively tailored for our families, this enriching experience unfolds in a splendid setting - the quaint church of San Biagino is transformed into an artistic haven and home to our esteemed course leaders. Children can marvel at their work which is dotted around the inside of the church.
⚽ Soccer in Sintra
By playing soccer (or football if you are British) children gain physical fitness, teamwork skills, motor skills development, decision-making abilities, discipline and confidence - all whilst having loads of fun. The overall experience contributes to their holistic growth, fostering important qualities that extend way beyond the soccer field.
They say soccer is the universal language so it won’t surprise you that you’ll find soccer games going on in every Boundless location! From impromptu kickarounds on the beach in Bali to spontaneous matches with the locals in play areas in Syros - often involving children, parents and even grandparents!
In Portugal, children can also take part in a Soccer Extracurricular Activity where they will receive coaching to hone their skills. Who knows? They might start on a path to be the next Ronaldo!
🍜 Bali Cooking Club
Learning to cook at a young age provides children with invaluable life skills, nutritional awareness, creativity, cultural appreciation, and a sense of accomplishment. It equips them to make healthier choices, fosters family bonding and promotes their overall well-being.
Our Boundless base in Sanur is the perfect spot to develop a lifelong culinary passion. It has a dizzying array of both local and international eateries where families can sample all types of delicacies.
Through the Cooking Club ECA, children have the chance to learn more about Indonesia’s cuisine and try their hand at creating their own tasty treats!
