Thinking about experiencing the joy of slow travel or worldschooling with your family?
The Gauthier Family made the leap from a busy life in Los Angeles to a year of intentional family travel with Boundless Life, and they haven’t looked back since. With three back-to-back cohorts slow traveling Greece, Spain, and Italy, they’ve embraced a lifestyle rooted in community, connection, and global learning.
In this interview, they share how Boundless Life helped them find a deeper family bond, lasting friendships, and the freedom to live and learn on their own terms.

What caused you to choose Boundless Life, and how did it align with your family's goals and values?
We had always wanted to spend a year abroad with our children. We wanted to show them that the world is so much bigger than what they know. To show them how beautiful it is, and how diverse the people are who live in it. One of our big questions was whether we wanted to do a fast year or a slow year. Ultimately, we decided that a slow year was exactly what we needed to create a sense of community for both us and our children.
Fast travel can be quite lonely, especially when it's hard to find other families with similarly aged children on the road. When we found Boundless Life, we couldn’t believe it! It was exactly what we had been searching for. A perfect balance of adventure and a strong sense of community. We only wish we had found it sooner!
Before starting our first cohort, we signed up for three back-to-back, three-month cohorts. And during our first one, we extended for a full second year with Boundless Life. It was exactly what we were looking for.
Which cohort locations has your family traveled to?
This year we’ve done Greece in the fall, Spain in the winter, and Italy in the spring. It’s been a perfect year!

How has Boundless Life positively impacted your children, academically, socially, or emotionally?
Our children have been thriving with the Boundless Life Education Center. The friendships they’ve made have been so touching. Just yesterday, our daughter was on FaceTime with her friends from Estepona. They were in four different countries across two continents. They're truly becoming global citizens.
The freedom and independence they’ve experienced in each location is unlike anything we’d allow at home. In Los Angeles, we’d never let our 12-year-old walk to the grocery store alone. But during our time abroad, they’ve done just that, navigating new languages, picking up supplies, and paying on their own. Whether it was Greek, Spanish, or Italian, they adapted.
Our daughters have even gone out to dinner with their friends, ordering and communicating in a foreign language. Their self-confidence and practical life skills have grown dramatically.
What lifestyle changes has your family experienced compared to life before joining Boundless Life? Has it affected your family bond or dynamic?
At home in Los Angeles, our lives were overscheduled, just like the lives of our friends. Even organizing a playdate felt impossible because everyone was so busy.
We absolutely adore the slowness of Boundless Life. Here, we have time to really talk with our children, have deep conversations, play board games, and enjoy movie nights. At home, we never felt like we had time for those things. We had au pairs helping to raise our children while we worked two full-time jobs.
Joining Boundless Life has been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. The closeness and bond we feel with our daughters now is something we never experienced before.

What is your favorite thing about the Boundless Life experience?
It’s like adult summer camp! Every weekday during the cohort is packed with incredible experiences. Back home, it would be the most exciting day of the year. At Boundless Life, we call it Tuesday. ☺️
I don’t think I’ve ever had so much continuous fun in my adult life, whether it’s boating with friends in the Greek Islands, biking through the hills of Tuscany, or playing padel in Spain. Whatever adventure you’re dreaming of, there’s always someone ready to join you.
What is your kids' favorite part?
They love all the new friends they’ve made and the adventures we’ve shared in each location. But most of all, they love how much quality time they get to spend with us.
How has the Boundless Life community supported your family’s sense of belonging and connection?
The idea that you can be dropped into a foreign town and instantly know 100 people is incredible. You walk through the streets of a Greek island and know everyone, friends for your children and for you. And this happens on day one of arriving.
We’ve traveled extensively and lived abroad at times, and I can say that it would take years, if ever, to build the kind of community that Boundless Life provides instantly. Twenty to thirty families arrive on the same day, all with the shared goal of living life fully and building community.

Would you recommend Boundless Life to other families? Why?
We’ve loved being part of Boundless Life so much. It’s been exhilarating to be surrounded by like-minded people and to find forever friends.
Being able to give this experience to our children has been such a gift, not just for them, but for us as well. I thought we’d have to wait until retirement to live abroad, which was always our dream. But the fact that we’re doing it now, with our young children, is truly a dream come true.
