The Bali Kite Festival is one of the biggest of its kind and attracts thousands of visitors every year. July and August provide the perfect conditions for kite-flying - and Boundless Life families joining our launch cohort will be perfectly situated to enjoy it!
The history books suggest that the festival started as a colourful tribute to the Gods to thank them for bountiful harvests and fertility. It has grown to become one of the most remarkable spectacles on Bali’s event calendar.
Locals and foreigners alike compete for a range of accolades including prizes for the most creative and colourful kites and, of course, flying and acrobatic skills.

This is all great news for Boundless Life families staying with us for our 6-week Summer Getaway as our Homes, Education Centre and Coworking Hub are all situated in Sanur! For parents looking for a solution to their summer childcare needs, Blissful Boundless Bali could be perfect - with the added benefit of being able to witness such a significant cultural event as the kite festival.
Our 6-week programme is based on UN Sustainable Development Goal #4 (‘Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all’) and will focus on Art, Science and Sports for 2 weeks each.
During the Sports component, children will have the opportunity to try their hand at kite flying in addition to other traditional Indonesian sports such as Mepantigan, a type of Balinese martial arts that combines wrestling with mud fighting or watch and participate in a game of Sepak Takraw, a South East Asian sport that is popular in Bali.
