From a Dream to a Global Movement: The Boundless Life Origin Story

Boundless Life began as a glimmer of possibility—a shared dream among a handful of families who dared to believe life could be different.

It was born from those deep, late-night conversations we all have with ourselves, the ones where we ask: What if there’s more?

And with that, the seed was planted. A simple concept—yet radical in its implications. It dared to challenge the norm: What if families didn’t have to choose between stability and adventure, between education and exploration? What if there was a way to integrate work, learning, and community into a seamless, fulfilling way of life?

“I wanted all of this for my own family so we decided to build it for ourselves!” - Boundless Life Co-Founder and CEO Mauro Repacci

For the founders of Boundless Life, this became more than just a question. It was a call to action. As parents, educators, and entrepreneurs, they saw the cracks in the system—the rigid school structures, the social isolation, the daily grind that left little room for anything else. It all felt out of sync with the lives they envisioned for their children and themselves.

They wanted something bigger. Something better. Something boundless.

From Discontent to Discovery

For Mauro, the wake-up call came as he was living the “perfect” life in suburban Canada. “We had the house, the schools, the car. But we weren’t happy,” he admits.

When the pandemic hit and schools moved into homes, he saw firsthand how broken the education system was. Suddenly, the traditional structures of work, school, and family life felt rigid and outdated. It became unmistakably clear that this framework was restricting connection and growth.

This marked a turning point, shining a spotlight on everything that wasn’t working. The cracks that had always been there were impossible to ignore. “We didn’t want to keep going like this,” he says.

From Dreams to an Action Plan

It didn’t take Mauro long to find like-minded individuals within his network. Rekha Magon was among the first to join on, quickly seeing the possibilities for a Boundless Life.

Rekha saw the pandemic as a rare opportunity to rethink how children learn. “Our schools are modeled after factories,” she says. “Traditional education systems still treat students as if they are on an assembly line”. She knew there was a better way—a way that nurtures young people as unique individuals with diverse talents and potential.

With the vision set, Rekha got to work developing a forward-thinking framework, which we now know as Boundless Education. Inspired by the Finnish education system, she created an approach where children work on meaningful projects, explore the outdoors, and learn at their own pace.

They were ready for the next steps.

A Mad Dash to Sintra

In January 2022, Mauro and Rekha, along with their families, landed in Sintra, Portugal. They had 20 days to set up 15 apartments, a coworking space, and an education center for the first cohort of Boundless Life families.

It was chaos, and it was magic. Between endless logistics and last-minute problem-solving, there were moments of pure comedy—like when they bought 15 coffee makers for the apartments, only to realize they had no idea how to transport them. But despite the whirlwind, everything came together.

“When the families arrived, it all clicked,” Mauro says. “Seeing kids from all over the world forming friendships and parents sharing stories around dinner tables—we knew we were onto something.”.

The first cohort exceeded every expectation. Families from all walks of life came together, connected by a shared desire to break free from conventional norms. The education system became the backbone, but it was the community—the laughter, the shared meals, the late-night conversations—that turned it into something truly transformative.

The Power of Community and Education

The Boundless Life community quickly flourished. Families told us they had never felt so connected—and it wasn’t just talk. They stayed in touch, traveled together, and planned reunions. What started as a program evolved into something much more: it became a way of life.

As Boundless Life grew, word spread. Among those who discovered it was Elodie Ferchaud, who learned about Boundless Life through a mutual connection. Drawn to its vision, she first joined as a participating family and later became a co-founder.

At the center of it all, the Boundless Life education model empowered learning in ways we had never seen before. Children were fully engaged, tackling real-world challenges, embracing new experiences daily, and thriving with their newfound knowledge.

But it wasn’t just about education—it was the support system that turned this journey into something truly transformative. Families didn’t just join an experience; they built a community. And in coming together, they created something deeper—the heart of the Boundless Life experience.

Growing Boundless

Since that first group in Sintra, Boundless Life has expanded across three continents, with communities in Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Spain, Indonesia, and now Uruguay.

Boundless Life has evolved into a global network of more than 1,000 families embracing a new way of living. It offers adventurous and open-minded families the opportunity to experience different cultures, maintain continuity in their children's education, and build lifelong connections along the way.

Each destination offers families a seamless blend of coworking, education, and housing, designed to make family life flexible and more fulfilling. And now, with initiatives like the Trailblazer Program, families can experience even greater continuity and connection as they move between locations, deepening their sense of belonging wherever they go.

A Movement, Not Just a Business

Boundless Life isn’t just a company. It’s a movement. It challenges the idea that families must choose between stability and adventure, between education and exploration. It’s living proof that we can live, work, and learn in ways that feel aligned with our deepest values.

At its core, Boundless Life isn’t just about travel or remote work—it’s about reimagining what’s possible. It’s about creating lives that feel rich with purpose, filled with meaningful relationships, and free from the constraints of convention.

“At the end of the day, Boundless Life is about supporting you to design the life you want,” says Elodie. That’s what makes Boundless Life more than just a program—it’s an opportunity to shape your family’s future with intention, flexibility, and a sense of adventure. Ultimately, it opens the door to a future where families can thrive on their own terms.

So, here’s our invitation: What if you didn’t have to wait until the kids were grown to live the life you’ve always wanted? What if you could embrace it now—fully, joyfully, boundlessly?
