What is Boundless Education on Bali like?

Boundless Education is just a few months away from launching its fourth destination in Bali, Indonesia. As always, core to all our locations is the Education Centre and its innovative curriculum based on experiential learning. Come and take a sneak peek at what the Boundless Education homebase on Bali will look like and learn about the special steps we took to bless our new centre ahead of its opening in July 2023. 

‍Balinese Blessing

Renovation work at our Balinese Education Centre in Sanur is well underway but, before this could commence, the local team performed a very special ceremony to bless the works being undertaken. This is a very colourful and intricate process involving flowers and offerings and the burning of incense.

‍Learning Centre Preparation

With the blessing complete, work could get underway to transform the quadrant of pagoda-style buildings into unique learning spaces. All of these are light and airy and face onto a green oasis in the middle - perfect for outdoor activities and learning and for bringing the outdoors in. Inside, our learning spaces will be Montessori inspired and will provide a calming environment. For Explorers who have already experienced our other Education Centres, the interior will be reassuringly familiar. 

The timetable will correspond with our other locations - including the project-based ‘Quests’ Explorers undertake collaboratively. These are established on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals to bring real-world context and significance to learning. When our Explorers are not pursuing their Quests they get to enjoy a whole range of regular sessions throughout their week that are all designed to help them feel relaxed, inspired and empowered. Connection Time, Nature Time and Cultural Immersion Time are just some of the timetable components our Explorers love. 

‍What does the student timetable look like in Bali? 

Connection Time happens at the beginning of each time and gives children and the education team alike a chance to ground themselves and reflect on how they are feeling and their goals for the day. A moment of mindfulness to create a solid foundation for the busy day ahead. In Bali, this will involve yoga practice and ‘Circle Time’ amongst the dappled shade of the lush planted area at the heart of the Education Centre. If you are still and quiet enough you might even hear the sea just a short walk away. 

For Nature Time, Explorers will be spoilt for choice. Bali’s diverse landscape offers endless opportunities for learning from both the land and sea. The Education Centre is just a stroll away from the beach, reefs and a Turtle Conservation Centre. Budding Marine Biologists will be truly inspired by their surroundings. Back on land, learn about the volcanoes of the island’s interior or the mind-blowing array of flora and fauna that inhabit Bali. 

Culture Time provides the opportunity to take a deep dive into the culture of Bali including its language, arts, architecture, cuisine, beliefs and spirituality. Our launch cohort in July coincides perfectly with a great tradition in Sanur: the annual Kite Festival. Explorers will look into the origins of this festival of colour and movement whilst also understanding the physics of kite flying.
